Pour célébrer le retour en concert public, en collaboration avec l'Association des retraité(e)s de l'Université McGill (ARUM), l'ensemble est heureux de présenter le Club social de l’ARUM et de la Société des étudiant(e)s en médecine (MSS ), un groupe favorisant l'interaction sociale et professionnelle entre les médecins retraités, d'autres professionnels et des étudiants en médecine de l'Université McGill.
Soyez des nôtres le 6 décembre 2021 pour une performance spéciale de l'orchestre I Medici di McGill (Les médecins de McGill), sous la direction de notre chef invité, Maestro Adam Johnson, ainsi que Russell Iceberg comme soliste.

I Medici di McGill Orchestra is back to live performances!
In celebration of the return of public concerts, in cooperation with the McGill University Retiree Association (MURA), the ensemble is glad to present the MURA and Medical Students Society (MSS) Social Club, a group fostering social and professional interactions between retired medical as well as other professionals and medical students at McGill University.
Join us on December 6, 2021 for a special performance by I Medici di McGill (“Physicians of McGill”) Orchestra, under the baton of our Guest Conductor Maestro Adam Johnson with Russell Iceberg as soloist.

Adam Johnson, chef d’orchestre
Épatant les publics au plus haut niveau de la scène musicale canadienne, le chef d'orchestre canadien primé Adam Johnson a été salué comme " un talent passionnant " et une " présence charismatique et imposante " sur le podium. Leader très recherché, il a terminé son mandat de chef assistant de l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal en 2018, et a été nommé chef en résidence pour la saison 2018-2019. (Bio...)

Russell Iceberg, violon
Le violoniste Russell Iceberg, basé à Montréal, a récemment remporté le prix du Violin d’Or et le prix Peter Mendell. Récemment diplômé de l'École de musique Schulich de l'Université McGill, Russell a étudié avec le premier violon solo de l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Andrew Wan. Ses autres professeurs notables incluent Phyllis Freeman, Blair Milton, Naoko Tanaka et Scott Yoo. Les engagements solo précédents de Russell incluent des performances avec le Maryland Symphony Orchestra, le Northwestern University Alumni Symphony et le Colorado College Summer Music Festival Orchestra. Club social de l'Association des retraité(e)s de l'Université McGill (MURA) et de la Société des étudiant(e)s en médecine (MSS)
Le Club propose un antidote à l'isolement et à la solitude de la pandémie actuelle, un problème majeur auquel sont confrontés les retraités. D'autre part, les étudiants en médecine n'ont pas souvent l'occasion d'interagir avec des personnes âgées prêtes à partager leur expérience et leurs connaissances en dehors des cours. Ces deux problèmes ont motivé la création de ce club et inspirent son plan d'action.
Association des Étudiant(e)s en médecine de l’Université McGill (MSS)
L'Association des Étudiant(e)s en médecine de l’Université McGill (MSS) regroupe 765 étudiants en médecine, de Med-1 à Med-4, poursuivant leurs études soit au campus localisé en centre-ville montréalais ou au nouveau campus Outaouais, qui entame avec succès sa deuxième année d’existence. La MSS se dédie à représenter et promouvoir les intérêts de ses membres au sein de la Faculté en médecine, des organisations professionnelles, et du grand public. La MSS encourage l’interactivité entre ses membres, tout en agissant comme meneuse positive à un niveau universitaire et communautaire.
Association des retraité(e)s de l’Université McGill (ARUM)
L'Association des retraité(e)s de l'Université McGill (ARUM) a vu le jour lors de son congrès de fondation en juin 2015 avec comme mandat des associations et unions d’employé(e)s de McGill de desservir l’ensemble des retraité(e)s de l'Université. Durant les deux années qui ont suivi, l’ARUM a conclu des ententes au sujet de l’adhésion du financement avec les quatre principales associations et unions d'employés de McGill (APBM, APNEUM, MUNACA, UES-Métiers-Centre-ville). En 2018, l’ARUM a signé une Déclaration de principes avec l’Université qui reconnaît officiellement l’ARUM comme partie intégrante de la collectivité de McGill.

Orchestre I Medici di McGill (Les médecins de McGill)
L'orchestre I Medici di McGill, qui en est à sa 33e saison (2021/2022), sous la baguette du maestro Adam Johnson, chef invité pendant le congé sabbatique du maestro Gilles Auger, offre au public montréalais le pouvoir de guérison de la musique par le biais de concerts au profit de la communauté des soins de santé et des organismes de bienfaisance locaux. L'orchestre joue ainsi un rôle important en tant que rayonnement public de la Faculté de médecine. L'ensemble se distingue en tant qu'institution, l'une des rares activités intergénérationnelles organisées à l'Université qui rassemble plus de 65 membres du personnel, étudiants, anciens et amis pour des interactions sociales régulières.

Adam Johnson, conductor
Thrilling audiences at the top levels of the Canadian music scene, award-winning Canadian conductor Adam Johnson has been praised as “an exciting talent” and for his “charismatic, commanding presence” on the podium. A highly-sought leader, he completed his training in his role as Assistant Conductor of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra from 2016-2018, and was appointed Resident Conductor for the 2018-2019 season. Russell Iceberg, violin
Montreal-based violinist Russell Iceberg has recently won the Golden Violin and Peter Mendell Competition awards. A recent graduate of McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, Russell studied with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal concertmaster Andrew Wan. Other significant teachers include Phyllis Freeman, Blair Milton, Naoko Tanaka and Scott Yoo. McGill University Retiree Association (MURA) and Medical Students Society (MSS) Social Club
The Club proposes an antidote to the isolation and loneliness of the current pandemic, a major problem faced by seniors. On the other hand, medical students often lack the opportunity to interact with seniors willing to share their experience and knowledge outside the classroom. Both issues motivate the formation of this Club and inform its plan of action.
Medical Student Society
The Medical Students’ Society of McGill University regroups 765 medical students across 4 years spanning 2 campuses: one in downtown Montreal, and a newly founded campus in Outaouais successfully entering its second year of existence. The MSS stands to promote the interests of its constituents with regards to Faculty, professional organizations, and the community, as well as encourage interaction between its members and act as a positive leader in the McGill University community and community at large.
McGill University Retiree Association (MURA)
MURA was officially established at its first Annual General Meeting in June 2015 with a mandate from several McGill employee associations and unions to serve as a university-wide association that was open to all McGill retirees. During the following two years, MURA entered into partnership agreements on membership and funding with the four major McGill employee groups MAUT, MUNASA, MUNACA, SEU-Trades (Downtown). In 2018, MURA signed a Statement of Principles with University that officially recognizes MURA as an integral part of the McGill community.
I Medici di McGill Orchestra
Now in its 33rd Season (2021/2022), under the baton of maestro Adam Johnson stepping in as Guest Conductor during the sabbatical leave of maestro Gilles Auger, I Medici di McGill Orchestra provides Montreal audiences with the healing power of music through concerts benefiting the healthcare community and local charities. The orchestra thus plays an important role as a public outreach of the Faculty of Medicine. The ensemble is distinctive as an institution, one of the few organized intergenerational activities at the University that brings over 65 staff, students, alumni and friends together for regular social interactions.
