Michael was born and grew up in Montreal. He began playing the flute in 1962, as a teenager in the West Hill High School Band in Montreal. During his high school years he also studied with Hervé Baillargeon at the Conservatoire de Musique de Québec. Twelve years ago he joined the I Medici Orchestra di McGill as the first member of the wind section. He performed Mozart’s Flute concerto as a soloist with the orchestra in 1999. He is also a member of the I Medici Wind Quintet. This ensemble has given both public and home concerts in Montreal over the past 10 years. Michael is an Associate Professor in Medicine at McGill University and an Ophthalmologist in the McGill University Health Centre Hospitals and at Université de Montréal at Hopîtal Notre Dame. He specializes in Pediatric Ophthalmology and also in the medical and surgical treatment of patients with strabismus.
