I Medici di McGill started as a 14 members string ensemble under the baton of Maestra Wanda Kaluzny. The first concert was given November 19, 1989 following the Faculty meeting in the Palmer Lecture Theatre, McIntyre Building.

The 20th aniversary concert is taking place under the batton of I Medici's music director Maestro Iwan Edwards, on November 9, 2009 in the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall, 8 PM with the ensemble now counting over 80 members. Details of the concert are posted here.

On the program is Beethoven's violin concerto, featuring Emmanuel Vukovich, renown young violinist, graduate of McGill Faculty of Music in the class of Professors Denise Lupien and Andre Roy. He is the winner of the first Schulich Golden Violin Award. This is his second appearance with I Medici. The program concludes with the Symphony No 2 of Johannes Brahms.
